Two Rules for Fishing with 4 kids 6 and under
1. Size does not matter - catching is much better than just fishing! Catching fish that are not much bigger than bait is still a ton of fun at this age. As each fish was thrown back it got some form of encouragement from the boys ranging from a blessing like “Grow fast, be good, I love you” to a big kiss on their little fish lips.
2. Have a Plan B for the Fish Fry - catching little fish is fun but does not do any good for the tummy when meal time rolls around. In this case, chicken was the other white meat. We enjoyed telling our fish stories as we ate our catch (chicken).
The funny look on their faces for the fish picture is because they wanted to say “Star Wars Fish” instead of “Cheese” when we took the picture. Three of the poles being used were Star Wars poles (the fourth one was broken) so naturally these were Star Wars Fish. Yes, on occasion, light saber battles using Star Wars poles did break out. No fish were injured during these battles.
